On June 16, the Competition Bureau of Canada launched a full examination into competition across the country’s food supply chain: production, distribution, and retail pricing, all of it.
Here’s the thing: small and medium processors almost never get asked. If we don’t speak up now, the Bureau’s picture of “the food supply chain” is going to be built almost entirely from the perspective of the players who already have the most leverage.
That’s why we want you to get involved. Join us at a town hall or answer the survey.
SSFPA will be collecting these responses to inform a submission on behalf of the sector. The deadline to submit your response for consideration is July 17, 2026.

Complete the survey below. Your contact information will only be used to contact you for clarification, should the need arise.
Our Survey.
It covers three areas:
- Production and processing
- Transportation and distribution
- Retail pricing
Your responses will remain confidential – we do ask for your email for validation and follow-up purposes should we need to get in touch.
We’ll compile what we hear and consolidate answers from our surveys into a formal submission on your behalf.
Deadline to get your response to us: July 17, 2026.
(If you’d rather submit directly to the Bureau yourself, you can do that too, their own deadline is July 31.)
